1. Hang out at Teignmouth beach

Let’s start with one of the must-see places on the list of things to do in Teignmouth – the beach.
Split into two main parts: Town Beach and River Beach, you can see two different sides to the Teignmouth beach experience.
Whatever time of year you decide to visit there’s always something to do and see – with water sport activities in the summer, the Grand Pier, which is open year-round, and plenty of natural beauty for you to soak up. Read on for more about the pier.
2. Promenade on Teignmouth Grand Pier

No great coastal town is complete without its very own pier and the Teignmouth Grand Pier’s traditional charm doesn’t disappoint.
If you’re visiting with the bigger kids, we’ve got them covered too. There are amusements and video games, alongside Cornish ice cream and coffees for grown ups.
3. Play at The Den at Teignmouth

When it comes to getting the kids off their gadgets and into the great outdoors, nothing works better than a good old adventure playground and The Den playground at Teignmouth is every young kid’s paradise.
This award-winning play area has tennis courts, an adventure golf facility, football pitches and even a food kiosk.
Let the kids run off some energy while you sip on a cuppa alongside the floral displays.
4. Hang loose at Teignmouth Skate Park
If you’ve got a budding skater in your family, they’ll be in their element at Teignmouth Skate Park.
Sat on the beachfront promenade, this family-friendly skate park has a multitude of levels to suit skaters of all ages. Bring along your board and safety gear ready to ride the ramps.
5. Go pre-historic at Jurassic Adventure Golf
Always a safe bet when it comes to finding fun family activities in Teignmouth is mini golf at Jurassic Adventure Golf.
Going the extra mile, this dinosaur-themed mini golf course is a 12 hole extravaganza.
Everyone loves a bit of healthy competition, so round up the troops, grab your golf club and see who comes out on top.
6. Party at Teignmouth Folk Festival
Every June Teignmouth hosts a lively folk festival featuring a heady mix of music performances and Morris dancing at venues around the town.
Some events are ticketed but there is entertainment to enjoy too.

7. Take a dip at Teignmouth Lido
During the summer season, Teignmouth Lido is one of the most sought after family activities in Teignmouth.
While Devon’s coastal dips can’t be beaten, the heated outdoor pool offers a welcome reprieve from the chilly sea waters.
Check its timetable for its fun swim, Aquasize classes and junior specific slots. Bring along the family and your cozzies for a fun day out in Teignmouth.

8. See a show at Teignmouth Pavilions

This arts and community venue brings you a variety of entertainment choices including shows and workshops the kids will love.

Plus, with plenty of educational exhibits you can turn your family day out into edu-tainment that everyone can enjoy.
9. Go crabbing in Teignmouth

One of the favourite and free things to do in Teignmouth is to go crabbing. The Teignmouth River Beach is known for being a great crabbing spot.
One of the best times to have a successful crabbing venture is during Autumn, where you can get the biggest and best crabs going.
Bring a crab line, a big bucket, a long handled net and some strong smelling bait to ensure your catch.
10. See wildlife on a boat trip from Teignmouth
Back on Devon’s open waters, our kids love a boat trip. Devon Sea Safari takes its Humber RIB boat to the seas, offering explorative voyages along the South Devon Coastline.
During your trip you can expect to come across plenty of marine wildlife and learn about the local history.
Or, you can take a trip with WeFerry which offers all sorts of trips including fishing trips and sunset cruises. Whichever boat ride you go for, it’s one of the top things to do in Teignmouth with kids.
11. Catch the ferry to Shaldon
Set sail to Shaldon! Catching the ferry from Teignmouth to Shaldon is often a highlight when visiting Teignmouth with kids.
Fun fact: the Teignmouth to Shaldon Ferry is the oldest passenger ferry crossingin England, dating to the 13th Century. But don’t worry, the two boats that service this route today are much newer.
The ferry runs all year round from the bottom of Lifeboat Lane. You can bring pushchairs, bicycles and even your dogs.
12. Discover Ness Cove

Ness Cove is a hidden gem tucked away in the village of Shaldon, near Teignmouth.
Discover Ness Cove through the infamous Smugglers Tunnel for the true experience of this hideaway.
Once you reach the cove, enjoy a freshwater dip, let the kids play in the rock pools or bring along your fishing rods. Plus, this beach is dog-friendly, so the whole family can join in the fun.
13. Visit Shaldon Zoo
Every kid loves a trip to the zoo – and a visit to Shaldon Zoo is one of the many great things to do in Teignmouth.
Among some of the rarest breeds of animals in the world, you can also discover their semi-tropical gardens and learn all about the creatures from the educative keeper talks they host.
14. Catch the Train to Dawlish

Forming part of the Riviera Line, the train ride to Dawlish is one of those delightful things to do in Teignmouth that everyone enjoys.
With the line running between Exeter, Marsh Barton, Starcross, Dawlish, Teignmouth, Newton Abbot and Torre you could ride the route in full and simply take in the stunning seascapes from the comfort of your carriage.
