Mazes at Devon attractions

Here’s the Devon attractions the include a maze:
- Canonteign Falls‘ labyrinth was created by maze artist Adrian Fisher with the Torus sculpture at its centre by David Harber.
- Woodlands Family Theme Park in South Devon has a wooden walled maze. This is included in the attraction’s entry price.
- Pennywell Farm in South Devon has a willow maze. This is included in the attraction’s entry price.
- The Milky Way in North Devon has one of the largest mazes in the South West. It covers 3,000 square meters
- Watermouth Castle in North Devon is a family theme park with a maze as one of its many attractions
- Wildwood Escot/Devon Activity Centre in East Devon has a beech maze. This is included in entry to Wildwood Escot and for activity centre users.
- Sooty Land at Crealy in East Devon has a mirror maze. This is included in the attraction’s entry price.
- The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth has a hedge maze. The sanctuary is free to visit.

Maize mazes in Devon this summer

The summer holidays mark the start of maize maze season in Devon. Some mazes were still growing when I published this guide, so check back here and the farms’ websites for the latest on opening times and prices.
Here’s the usual spot to find maize mazes around the county – drop me a line if you know of any I’ve missed:
Maize mazes in South Devon
Here’s where to find South Devon’s mazes:
Maize Maze at The Orange Elephant
Find the maze in the summer meadow across the road from the The Orange Elephant ice cream parlour.
When: opening August (check the Orange Elephant Instagram for updates) to September. Opening times 10am to 5pm daily.
Admission charge: access the maze when you buy a ticket to the summer meadow. Check this season’s prices with the Orange Elephant when you arrive. Admission is free for season pass holders.
Where: Taverners Farm, Lower Brenton, Kennford, Exeter, EX6 7YL

Maize maze in Mid-Devon
Here’s the maze I’ve spotted in Mid-Devon:
Orway Porch Farm maize maze
This maze is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays right through the summer holidays. There’s also a picnic area and refreshments to buy. Dogs are welcome too.
When: 26 July to 1 September
Admission: £6.50 adult and children aged three and up, under three’s free, £24 Family ticket (two adults, two children), £5.50 person for groups of eight or more.
Where: Orway Porch Farm, Kentisbeare, Mid-Devon, EX15 2EY

Maize mazes in East Devon
Take your pick from these mazes in Exeter and East Devon:
Maize Maze at The World of Country Life
Visit this popular East Devon attraction and you’ll find the maize maze included in your entrance ticket.
When: the maze will be ready from the end of July.
Admission charge: included in the attraction’s admission price.
Where: West Down Lane, Sandy Bay, Exmouth, EX8 5BY

Maize maze at Darts Farm, Topsham
When: seven days a week.
Admission charge: £2 donation

Maize maze in West Devon
Here’s where to get lost amongst the maize in West Devon:
Strawberry Fields’ Maize Maze at Lifton Farm
This year’s maze is circus -themed. Come armed with a mobile phone as you’ll need to scan QR codes along the way to unlock riddles and challenges.
Your ticket for the maze includes access to the play barn. Pick you own sun flowers also opens from late August.
When: 10am to 4pm, seven days a week throughout August.
Admission charge: £6.95 per person, under twos go free.
Where: Strawberry Fields, Lifton, PL16 0DE

Summer maze in North Devon
Here’s where to find a maze that’s be created for especially for summer in North Devon:
Grass maze at Arlington Court near Barnstaple
Arlington Court has cut a laundry maze as part of its National Trust Summer of Play activities.
When: normal opening hours, 7 July to 1 September.
Admission charge: normal admission charges apply. Free for National Trust members.
Where: Arlington, near Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 4LP.
