Mazes at Devon attractions
Here’s the Devon attractions the include a maze:
- Canonteign Falls‘ labyrinth was created by maze artist Adrian Fisher with the Torus sculpture at its centre by David Harber.
- Woodlands Family Theme Park in South Devon has a wooden walled maze. This is included in the attraction’s entry price.
- Pennywell Farm in South Devon has a willow maze. This is included in the attraction’s entry price.
- The Milky Way in North Devon has one of the largest mazes in the South West. It covers 3,000 square meters
- Watermouth Castle in North Devon is a family theme park with a maze as one of its many attractions
- Wildwood Escot/Devon Activity Centre in East Devon has a beech maze. This is included in entry to Wildwood Escot and for activity centre users.
- Sooty Land at Crealy in East Devon has a mirror maze. This is included in the attraction’s entry price.
- The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth has a hedge maze. The sanctuary is free to visit.
Maize mazes in Devon this summer
The summer holidays mark the start of maize maze season in Devon. Some mazes were still growing when I published this guide, so check back here and the farms’ websites for the latest on opening times and prices.

Maize mazes in South Devon
Here’s where to find South Devon’s mazes:
South Devon Maize Maze
Get lost in this themed maze, with family friendly activities to do along the way. There is live music and family entertainment on selected dates too. Check the maze’s Facebook page for the latest information.
When: from 22 July to beginning of September 2023. Open every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10am to 5pm.
Admission charge: adults £7, children £7, under 3’s free. There’s also a family ticket for four for £25.

Maize maze at the Surfing Cow
Navigate not one but two mazes this year! Head to the scooping parlour to buy your maze tickets and a delicious ice cream, milkshake or sundae made here at the Surfing Cow at Battisborough Farm near Plymouth.
PYO sunflowers should also be ready from August. Keep an eye on the Surfing Cow social media for updates.
When: 12pm to 5pm every day from 14 July 2023. Please check with the Surfing Cow about their last maze day of the season.
Admission charge: £1 per person. Under 2s go free.

Maize Maze at The Orange Elephant
Find the maze in the summer meadow across the road from the The Orange Elephant ice cream parlour.
When: 10am to 5pm every day until 3 September 2023
Admission charge: access the maze when you buy a ticket to the summer meadow. Check this season’s prices with the Orange Elephant when you arrive.

Maize maze in Mid-Devon
Here’s the maze I’ve spotted in Mid-Devon:
Halberton Court Farm Shop swan and cygnet maze
Halberton Court is running a maize maze for the first time this year and is celebrating the Grand Western Canal Country Park or the ‘Swans Neck Canal Walk’ that surrounds it.
Alongside the maze there’s pick you own strawberries and raspberries, and a fully stocked foodie farm shop and cafe.
When: 9am to 4pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 2.30pm on Sunday. The Maze is open until September. Place check Facebook for updates.
Admission charge: £3 per child for the Junior Maze (one adult goes free with each child), £6 per person for the Amazing Maze Challenge.

Orway Porch Farm maize maze
This five acre maze is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays right through the summer holidays. There’s also a mini maze, picnic area and refreshments to buy. Dogs are welcome too.
When: selected dates from 28 July to 3 September 2023
Admission charge: there may be an addition charge.
Where: Orway Porch Farm, Kentisbeare, Mid-Devon, EX15 2EY

Maize mazes in East Devon
Take your pick from these mazes in Exeter and East Devon:
Maize maze at Darts Farm, Topsham
There’s a sweet prize at the end of this year’s maze for everyone who completes a trail sheet. Pick you own sun flowers also opens from late August.
When: open seven days a week
Admission charge: donation of £2 per trail sheet which goes to the farm’s chosen charity ‘Force’.

Maize Maze at The World of Country Life
Visit this popular East Devon attraction and you’ll find the maize maze included in your entrance ticket.
When: the maze will be ready from the end of July.
Admission charge: included in the attraction’s admission price.
Where: West Down Lane, Sandy Bay, Exmouth, EX8 5BY

Here’s where to get lost amongst the maize in West Devon:
Strawberry Fields’ Maize Maze at Lifton Farm
Visit Strawberry Fields for a maize maze with a difference in 2023. This year you can play nine holes of crazy golf around it.
