Experiences are not only a thoughtful gift that the whole family can enjoy, they are also better value than physical presents that might just gather dust.

Here’s some Devon businesses offering to treat your mum, gran, aunty or other VIP lady like royalty this Mother’s Day:

Mother’s Day afternoon tea at The Grand Hotel, Torquay

An afternoon tea is an indulgent experience for you and your mum, and The Grand Hotel is in the perfect seaside location to enjoy one.

Enjoy chocolate dipped strawberries, macaroons, cakes and freshly made sandwiches while enjoying a view of Torbay. Mother’s Day afternoon teas are available from 8 to 10 March 2024.

Find out more and book a table on the The Grand Hotel’s website.

Cream Tea cruise with Stuart Line Cruises, Exmouth

Treat your mum to a cream tea during a cruise on the River Exe from Exmouth Marina. Stuart Line Cruises have three special trips planned on Mothering Sunday in 2024.

Tickets to ride include a Devonly scone from Exmouth Bakery, locally sourced jam and cream, and a warming up of tea or coffee.

Find out more and book your place on the Stuart Line Cruises website.

This isn’t strictly a Mother’s Day offer but it is particularly well timed. Some National Trust places in Devon are offering free entry to players of the National Lottery between 9 and 17 March.

Present your National Lottery ticket or scratch card at reception for free entry.

Please note that at a few properties visits on Mother’s Day (10 March) must be booked in advance as there are a limited number of free places available.

Here are the National Trust places participating:

The free entry offer is happening to thank all of the National Lottery players who have helped the National Trust with vital conservation work.

Take a look at the National Trust website for full details of how to book.
