What’s on in Devon in November

The winter events calendar does a quick flip from Halloween and half term to Christmas this month. But there’s also bonfire night, theatre shows and other family-friendly activities happening.

Pumpkin Festival at Pennywell Farm – daily until 1 November 2026

There’s seasonal fun galore without the gore at Pennywell Farm where you’ll find all the usual activities, rides and animal encounters, plus autumn photo opportunities, a pumpkin patch and trail.

There’s prizes to be won too! Dress up as a scarecrow to receive a treat when you arrive.

Fantastic Fungi Quest with Sharpham Trust – 1 November 2026

Ever wondered what strange creatures lie beneath the forest? Dr. Christian Taylor will introduce to you the Kingdom of Fungi which permeates and connects all other forest life – and without which there would be no forest.

This walk will encompass some of the different habitats at Sharpham Estate and explore them from the perspective of fungi. You might even get to taste some.

This event is free for children acommoanied by a paying adult.

Cockington Court Sculpture Trail in Torbay – daily until 1 November 2026

Listen up art lovers, explorers and history enthusiasts! The Cockington Court sculpture trail has returned for 2026 and this year is inspired by movie magic This free trail features more than 30 different sculptures created by local artists and sculptors. 

To take part collect a free map from inside the Manor House between 10.30am and 4.30pm daily.

‘Voices of the garden’ immersive audio trail at Greenway near Galmpton – daily until 1 November 2026

Step back in time on this exciting trail as HistoryScapes, an immersive audio app, brings Greenway’s garden to life. 

Use your smartphone to unlock stories as you explore the riverside gardens of Agatha Christie’s South Devon holiday home.

This is a free activity. Normal National Trust admissions apply.

Pumpkins at Watermouth Castle in Ilfracombe – daily until 1 November 2026

See Watermouth Castle theme park decked for spooky season with pumpkin walkways through the grounds and into the Courtyard.

As well as all the usual attractions, there will be a trick or treat trail, photo opportunities and market stalls are stacked with pumpkins, squashes and gourds in every shape, size and colour. 

There’ll be even more seasonal fun on selected dates, including marshmallow toasting at weekends and additional family entertainment during October Half Term.

Stranger Folk trail at Lydford Gorge in West Devon – daily until 1 November 2026

Forget pumpkins and plastic fangs – this Halloween adventure crackles with old magic. Download the Stranger Folk app to start your folklore adventure at Lydford Gorge.

Your guide, the Crone will direct you to where the stranger folk are slipping through the cracks to stir up trouble. 

This trail is included in your admission price and free for National Trust members.

Autumnfest celebrations at Arlington Court near Barnstaple – daily until 1 November 2026

Take a stroll through the grounds of this National Trust property and follow the animal-themed scarecrow trail, featuring creative displays made by local schools, community groups and volunteers.

Inside the house, discover a beautifully dressed harvest table and seasonal floral displays, then head out to the gardens to enjoy a colourful display of gourds.

Frozen the Musical at Palace Theatre in Paignton – until 1 November 2026

Forget Halloween, it’s all about the Princesses! Join your favourite Characters as they throw the most wicked icicles this Halloween at Palace Theatre.

Pumpkins, plants and poisons at Greenway   in Galmpton – daily until 1 November 2026

Discover frightfully fascinating facts about poisonous plants, wicked wildlife and garden gobblers, on a family friendly autumn trail in the Greenway garden this October half-term.   

Visit on 29 October and you will also find spooky circus skills workshops with Elfic the Juggler.

These events are included in the admission price and free for National Trust members but parking must be booked in advance.

Half term trail at Castle Drogo  in Drewsteignton – daily until 1 November 2026

Head to Castle Drogo National Trust for its half term family trail around the grounds, running every day during the school holidays.

Plus on Thursday 29 October there will be free craft activities in the activity hut.

Mrs Doubtfire the Musical at The Lyric in Plymouth – until 7 November 2026

Mrs Doubtfire, the West End’s hit comedy musical based on the beloved film, is heading to Plymouth.

Spirit of Autumn at Knightshayes in Tiverton – daily until 8 November 2026

Step into the Knightshayes National Trust garden for a fun, family trail and discover how plants and animals respond to the changing season.

As temperatures fall and daylight shortens, many species become especially active – gathering food, establishing new territories, and changing their behaviour to survive the colder months ahead. 

Visit between 23 October and 3 November and you can also pick your own pumpkin.

This autumn follow the path of ‘The Green Man’ at Coleton Fishacre National Trust in South Devon. Along the way discover fascinating facts and spellbinding folklore about ancient woodlands on a free trail in the garden.

Room on the Broom activity trail at Haldon Forest near Exeter – open daily from 27 January 2027

The newest children’s activity trail in the partnership between Forestry England and Magic Light Pictures opens this week. Help Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s character the Witch as she embarks on a magical journey around Haldon Forest.

Insects Uncovered at Newton Abbot Museum – daily until 1 March 2027

See a collection of butterfly specimens and take part in The Great Butterfly & Moth Hunt to find
eight insects hiding around the museum and learn some amazing facts along the way.

When you’ve found them, go to the front desk to collect a special sticker for your Pastport and some wildflower seeds to plant at home.

Bayeux Around Britain at RAMM in Exeter – Tuesday to Sunday until 11 July 2027

Can’t get to London to admire the Bayeux Tapestry? Visiting RAMM in Exeter is the next best thing!

It’s part of a nation-wide programme to bring the the story of the tapestry alive with objects from RAMM’s collection, alongside digital assets from the British Museum and a trail about the history surrounding the Norman invasion.

Argifest at Westpoint in Exeter – 4 November 2026

This free event allows you to explore the sheep and cattle lines, watch top-tier livestock being prepped for the competition rings, or witness the crowning of champions as they receive their decorative sashes

Following its hugely successful debut, the West Country Food Village will be back for its second year featuring artisan producers from Devon, each offering a tempting array of locally crafted treats to sample and purchase.

Graze your way through the food village and tick off some early Christmas shopping while you’re at it. Entry and parking are free.
