Easter trails at National Trust places in Devon in 2022

The National Trust is a sure bet for Easter egg hunts in Devon and this year has a nature-inspired activity trail.

The trail sheet costs £3 per child and includes a trail map, pencil and chocolate egg at the end.

Here’s the National Trust places in Devon where you will find egg hunts happening in 2022 – note that the dates not the same at every venue:

Easter egg hunts in North Devon

A giant egg hunt is being held at RHS Rosemoor in Great Torrington from 9 to 24 April 2022.

Discover the enormous painted eggs hidden around gardens and get the chance to meet the Easter Bunny on certain days for more fun and games throughout the holidays.

Find the Easter chicks at Clovelly Village

Pick up a map of the Village when you arrive and spot Easter chicks perched up and down the cobbled High Street to the quay.

If you spot at least 10 chicks there will be an Easter egg waiting for you at the Visitor Centre reception.  Spot all 15 chicks and you can win a bigger prize!

Easter egg hunt at Quince Honey Farm

If you book a visit to Quince Honey Farm on selected date sin April you’ll be able to take part in an egg hunt alongside other activities at the farm near South Molton.

The hunt happens on 9 and 10 April, 15 to 18 April and, 23 and 24 April 2022.

Woolacombe Easter Trail

Pick up a free map from Woolacombe Tourist Information Centre on the Esplanade and head out to find clues hidden around Woolacombe Warren. Complete this egg-citing adventure trail and claim a chocolate prize.

Trail sheets are available from 8 to 14 April 2022.

Easter Grotto at The Milky Way

Visit The Milky Way adventure park this Easter and you can journey down the rabbit hole to its expanded Easter Bunny HQ and meet the friendly ‘eggsperts’ who control the production of the entire world’s chocolate eggs.

There’s puzzles and fun as you travel through the grotto and meet the Easter Bunny. Of course there’s a chocolate treat to too.

The Grotto is open for visits between 9 and 22 April 2022.

Easter fun at Hartland Abbey

Hartland Abbey’s Easter egg hunts return with the bluebells this spring. Families will have a wonderful time searching all the flower-filled woodland paths and walks for clues that will lead them to a hidden treasure trove of Easter eggs. 

The house and gardens are open for Easter fun on 17 and 18 Aril 2022.

Woolhanger Easter Egg Hunt

Visit the Woolhanger Easter at Parracombe for an egg hunt on Easter Sunday. The event is supporting the British Red Cross and will include a hunt for golden eggs, colouring stations, refreshments and an Easter egg for participants.

The event starts at 11am on 17 April. Tickets must be booked in advance.

Book a visit to the Bear Town immersive play centre between 9 and 24 April 2022 and your little ones can search for eggs hidden by the Easter Bunny.  

The egg hunt is being run during the usual two hour play sessions. Once all the eggs have been found, each child can collect a yummy little Easter treat!

Mad Hatters and March Hares at Coldharbour Mill Museum

Come and see the 19th century engines of this heritage museum in full steam as you hunt for eggs, cleverly hidden by the resident March Hare!

You can also meet the mill’s craft community who are inviting you to join them for a tea party.

This event takes place on 18 April 2022.

The pottery bunnies at Paint Pots of Devon have escaped! Buy a trail sheet from the pottery in The Creedy Centre between 8 and 24 April to help find them.

This Easter trails is raising money for 1st Bow Scout Group.

There’s a special trail on at Pecorama over the Easter weekend (15-16 April).

Follow clues to find letters hidden around the Pecorama site. Complete the word and claim your an Easter egg. If you visit in fancy dress there’s a extra gift to collect.

Easter trail and activities at The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth

Visit The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth for an Easter Nature Trail and hands-on enrichment craft activities this month.

Trail sheets will guide visitors around the sanctuary’s habitats to reveal which animals lives there, as well as learning how encouraging biodiversity and maintaining these habitats and natural ecosystems helps contribute to the health and wellbeing of the donkeys.  

Trail sheets costs £5 each and participants receive an Easter egg on completion and a biodegradable bag of seeds to help to create a wildflower meadow at home. Visit between 2 and 24 April to take part in the trail.

Visitors can also take part in three free activity sessions held at the sanctuary, where they can learn about the importance of enrichment and how this promotes the health and wellbeing of the donkeys. The enrichment sessions will be held on Thursday 14 April at 11am, Tuesday 19 April at 2pm, and at 11am on Thursday 21 April.

The Donkey Sanctuary Sidmouth is open seven days a week, from 9am to 5pm. Entry to the sanctuary is free, as is parking, and dogs on leads are welcome.

Tamar Trails Easter trail

Booking is essential for the Easter egg hunt at Tamar Trails. Pick up your trail information from the Tree Surfers centre and follow the clues to find the easter Bunny.

There’s a more challenging trail that takes an hour to complete or a buggy and toddler friendly trail.

Places cost £2 per child and are available to book between 2 and 24 April.

Can you crack the Model Village’s Easter Egg Trail? Visit between 2 and 24 April to find colourful eggs hidden in and around the gardens. All successful young explorers will enjoy a chocolatey treat!

Easter fun at Pennywell Farm

There’s days full of Easter activities at Pennywell Farm near Buckfastleigh this school holiday. Guess the weight of the Easter Bunny and how eggs are in the jar, follow the egg-stravaganza trail and take part in the farmyard egg hunt.

Plus there’s loads of baby animals to meet as well as the World famous Pennywell miniature piglets.

Can you find the eggs of all the zoo’s different bird species?

Head to Dartmoor Zoo in Sparkford between 9 and 24 April for an egg-citing Easter trail around the Zoo featuring its amazing animals, new animal talks and loads of brilliant bird facts.

This trail is included as part of the zoo admission ticket with the option of purchasing a £2 trail pack.

Charity egg hunt at Berry Head Nature Reserve

The team at the Guardhouse Cafe at Berry Head near Brixham have lost their eggs. Can you help find them and support three important charities?

Pick up an egg hunter sheet from the cafe, search for eggs around the nature reserve and collect a small prize. The hunt is happening every day until 24 April.

This trail is free to participate in but donations are encouraged and will be shared between Rowcroft Hospice, RNLI and Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

The BIG egg hunt at Powderham Castle

Get exploring outdoors and learn all about native birds and their eggs with Powderham Castle’s eggciting Easter trail.

Collect a free activity sticker book when you arrive and follow the trail around the grounds searching for the giant eggs, learning about the birds as you go.

Free egg hunt in Plymouth’s West End

Families can follow a fun trail through the West End of Plymouth city centre for the chance to win one of three brilliant prizes.

There are ten eggs to find on the Spring Time Egg Hunt, all hiding in the windows of shops and cafes around Frankfort Gate, Cornwall Street, Market Avenue and New George Street.

The egg hunt will run from 9 to 24 April. Download a map from the Visit Plymouth website or collect a leaflet from one of the participating retailers.
