Where to find Easter egg hunts in Devon 2024

The season of lambs, chicks and Spring flowers is here! If you are looking to treat your children to an Easter day out involving fresh air, fun and a chocolatey treat then here’s where you’ll find Easter egg hunts and trails in Devon in 2024.

Please note that this guide is under construction as events are yet to be finalised. Read on for what happened last year.

Easter trails at National Trust places in Devon in 2023

The National Trust is a sure bet for Easter egg hunts in Devon and this year has a nature-inspired activity trail.

The trail sheet costs £3 per child and includes a trail map, pencil and chocolate egg at the end.

Here’s the National Trust places in Devon where you will find egg hunts happening in 2023 – note that the dates are not the same at every venue so check before you visit:

Easter egg hunts in North Devon

Here’s where to find Easter egg trails in the North of Devon:

Dino egg hunt at Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park – 27 March to 16 April 2023

Head to Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park as it reopens for the season and go on a hunt for dino eggs.

A special egg trail has been laid around the park. Find all 10 and there is a special prize to be collected.

Easter egg hunt challenge at The Big Sheep – 1 to 15 April 2023

The Big Sheep has teamed up with Bloomsbury Books to put on a We’re Going on an Egg Hunt trail this Easter school holiday.

There will be a trail laid around the farm, as well as all the usual Big Sheep fun, with lots of prizes to be won including a top prize of winning your height in books.

Easter Grotto at The Milky Way – 1 to 14 April 2023

Visit The Milky Way adventure park this Easter and you can journey down the rabbit hole to its expanded Easter Bunny HQ and meet the friendly ‘eggsperts’ who control the production of the entire world’s chocolate eggs.

There’s puzzles and fun as you travel through the grotto and meet the Easter Bunny. Of course there’s a chocolate treat to too.

This experience is designed for children aged one to 10-years-old.

Woolacombe Easter Trail – 1 to 16 April 2023

Pick up a trail map from Woolacombe Tourist Information Centre on the Esplanade and head out to find clues hidden around Woolacombe Warren.

Complete this egg-citing adventure trail and claim a chocolate prize.

Egg hunt at RHS Rosemoor – 1 to 16 April 2023

There’s a giant Easter egg hunt at RHS Rosemoor in Torrington this Easter.

Explore the garden searching for the giant Easter eggs decorated with competition-winning designs based on spring wildlife and flowers. Once you’ve found all the eggs, you’ll be rewarded with a free chocolate treat.

The Easter Bunny will be in the garden on the Easter weekend so keep an eye out.

And on 6 and 11 April there’ll be Giant Bubble shows with Captain Coconut with bubbles inside bubbles, bubbles big enough to fit a child and even a tower of bubbles – this show will blow you away!

Easter activities at Dartington Crystal – 3 to 14 April 2023

Dartington Crystal’s Easter activities include Easter crafts, egg trails and themed glass painting. Get creative and make Easter decorations and make sure you show your support to Children’s Hospice Southwest and go on the bear hunt.

Plus see their craftspeople hard at work creating beautiful pieces for you to use and enjoy.

Find the Easter chicks at Clovelly Village – 7 to 10 April 2023

Pick up a map of the Village when you arrive and spot Easter chicks perched up and down the cobbled High Street to the quay.

If you spot at least 10 chicks there will be an Easter egg waiting for you at the Visitor Centre reception.

Easter EGG-STRAVAGANZA with Ilfracombe Lifeboats – 8 April 2023

There will be an Easter egg hunt and plenty of seasonal fun happening at RNLI boathouse on the Cove from 11 am to 3pm.

Easter fun at Hartland Abbey – 9 to 10 April 2023

Hartland Abbey’s Easter egg hunts return with the bluebells this spring.

Families will have a wonderful time searching all the flower-filled woodland paths and walks for clues that will lead them to a hidden treasure trove of Easter eggs. 

The house and gardens are also open on Good Friday (7 April) but the trail starts on Easter Sunday.

Here’s where to search for the East bunny’s treats in Mid-Devon:

Easter at Bear Town – 31 March to 19 April 2023

The Easter Bunny has hidden eggs throughout Bear Town, and tiny tots are required to help find them all.

Alongside a two-hour play session, your little ones will be hopping through the Town to help collect all the eggs. Once all the eggs have been found, all paid children will be given a hatching egg to take home and grow.

There’s also a SEND session on Friday 31 March.

Madhatters and March Hares at Coldharbour Mill Museum – 10 April 2023

Come and see the 19th century engines of this heritage museum in full steam as you hunt for eggs, cleverly hidden by the resident March Hare!

You can also meet the mill’s craft community who are inviting you to join them for a tea party.

Easter trail at Heron Farm – 1 to 16 April 2023

Heron Farm’s Easter trail is back with a twist in 2023. It now has younger and older children clues, and there’s one rather special golden egg to find each day for an egg-stra special prize.

Trail sheets cost £5 per child. If you wish to eat at the farm during your visit booking is essential.

Spring at The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth – 1 to 16 April 2023

The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth is bursting with life now and the Spring Wildlife Hunt trail is the perfect excuse to get out with family and friends to explore the sanctuary and combine exercise and brainpower. 

The resident donkeys play an important part in increasing the biodiversity of wildlife across the sanctuary. Their hooves and coats spread seeds far and wide, boosting the ecosystem to allow new fauna and flora to flourish. 

By following clues from their trail sheet, people will be able to discover wildlife boards around the sanctuary and match them up with the stickers provided. Trail sheets cost £5 each and include a prize on completion, which over the Easter holidays is a chocolate Easter Egg. 

The Donkey Sanctuary is free to visit, and parking is free.

RSPB Easter egg trail at Darts Farm – 1 to 16 April 2023

Explore Darts Farm’s farm walk, nature trail and wetlands while completing a special Easter egg hunt in aid of the RSPB.

Visit the RSPB Gazebo on Darts Farm’s front field between 10am and 4pm to collect your clue sheet. These cost £3.50 per child with all proceeds going to RSPB.

Gnome hunt at Bicton Park Botanical Gardens – 2 to 3 April 2023

On Easter Sunday and Monday Bicton Park Botanical Gardens will be running a Gnome Hunt for children
with a series of clues to help find the gnomes hidden around the park.

Completed clue sheets handed into reception will be entered in the daily draw with a chance to win one of six Easter gifts.

Eggo-Saurus Dino Hunt at Crealy Adventure Park and Resort – 3 to 16 April 2023

Head to Crealy for a Jurassic adventure in addition to the usual theme park fun this Easter school holiday.

Huge bone structures, fossilised footprints and myserious large eggs have been uncovered at the park and volunteers are needed to help discover the secret location of more Dino eggs.

Pecorama reopens for Easter fun – from 4 April 2023

It’s full steam ahead at Pecorama from the Easter weekend as it reopens for the season and a week of Easter fun.

There will br a special trail alongside scenic steam train rides, the beautiful gardens, crazy golf, the model railway exhibition and let the kids let off more steam around the outdoor play areas.

Hop over to Dartmoor Zoo for lots of egg-themed fun including an Easter egg trail, games and the chance to meet the Easter bunny!

The trails costs an additional £3 on your admission ticket. This includes a trail sheet, pencil and Easter egg.

Easter Alien Egg Trail at Cockington Court – 1 to 14 April 2023

This Easter, take a trip to Cockington Court and discover the Alien Eggs that have landed in the grounds.

Pick up a trail map from the Manor House and hunt down the extra-terrestrial creations in this family friendly, Easter Egg trail around the estate.

A team of local sculptures, makers, painters and artists have created a wide range of alien-inspired, eye-catching eggs that offer a twist on the traditional Easter Egg hunt tradition.

Trail sheets are available for £2 from the Cockington Court Gallery inside the Manor House and Seven Dials Café. The trail will be in place from 11am to 4pm daily.
