Bluey’s Big Play at Princess Theatre Torquay – until 1 February 2026

The Gruffalo’s Child at Saltram in Plymouth – daily until 1 February 2026

The Gruffalo’s Child has taken over Saltram this winter. The magic of this beloved story will be brought to life within Saltram’s garden. Follow along on the journey through the deep dark wood with games, challenges and plenty of festive photo moments along the way.
Please note: the house will be closed this Christmas season while work happens to make Saltram more accessible for the future.
The parkland is open daily.

Matilda The Musical at The Lyric in Plymouth – until 7 February 2026

Following the sellout success of its first tour, Matilda The Musical, the multi-award winning musical from the Royal Shakespeare Company, inspired by the beloved book by Roald Dahl, is returning to Plymouth.
With book by Dennis Kelly, music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and directed by Matthew Warchus, Matilda is the story of an extraordinary little girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny.
The Magic Box at The Soapbox Children’s Theatre – selected dates until 14 February 2026

When the lights go off in the play room, then the toys in the Magic Box come alive. This fully immersive production for babies and toddlers combines beautiful characters, lighting, sound, bubbles and puppets.

The Annual Schools Exhibition at Burton Gallery in North Devon – until 15 March 2026

Burton Gallery’s annual schools exhibition showcases a diverse range of artworks showcasing the talent, imagination and creativity of young people aged 4 to 18 from the local area.
With no set theme, the exhibition is a glimpse into the inspirations and concerns of our next generation of artists. It is also a celebration of their teachers and the contribution of art to encouraging creativity and innovation across the curriculum.

Earth Photo exhibition at Forestry England Haldon – daily until 19 March 2026

Forestry England’s outdoor exhibition showing images from Earth Photo shortlisted works continues daily and is free to visit.
Created in 2018 by Forestry England, the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) and Parker Harris, Earth Photo is a world-leading programme engaging with still and moving image makers to showcase the issues affecting the climate and life on our planet.
The outdoor exhibition displays a selection of the images submitted by photographers from around the world including the melting sea ice of Greenland and the vanishing oases of Morocco.

Strawberry’s Hoofprint Trail at Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary – daily until 29 March 2026

Follow in the hoofprints of Strawberry the adoption donkey and learn how sanctuary grooms keep all the resident donkeys’ feet healthy. Complete the £5 trail sheet and win a prize.
The Donkey Sanctuary is free to visit and dogs are allowed on leads.

Comedy Wildlife Exhibition at Seaton Tramway – daily until 19 April 2026
The trams may be taking their winter break until half term but there’s still plenty to entertain wildlife loving families at the Harbour Road depot.
Get ready to LOL at nature’s funniest moments as Seaton Tramway is hosting the internationally acclaimed Comedy Wildlife Photography Exhibition featuring side-splitting, heart-warming and thought-provoking images from around the world.

Wow! Amazing Science in Children’s Books exhibition at RAMM in Exeter – until 26 April 2026
This free family-friendly exhibition brings together vibrant artwork and surprising facts to investigate the wonders of the world around us.
Journey from outer space to deepest underground, and into the workings of the human body, through the creations of artists including Oliver Jeffers, David Macauley, Marcia Williams and Yuval Zommer.

Room on the Broom activity trail at Haldon Forest near Exeter – open daily

The newest children’s activity trail in the partnership between Forestry England and Magic Light Pictures is Room on the Broom. Help Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s character the Witch as she embarks on a magical journey around Haldon Forest.

Free storytelling at The Box, Plymouth – every Friday
Head to The Box in Plymouth every Friday until the end of June for its Tell Me A Story storytelling session for preschoolers.
There’s no need to book. You’ll find the half hour session held under the figureheads in the reception area at 10.30am.

Snowdrop Festival at The Garden House – Fridays, Saturday and Sundays until mid March 2026

Visit The Garden House near Yelverton for its first joyful seasonal event of the year – its Snowdrop Festival.
There will be more than 350 varieties of snowdrops to spot making it one of the most diverse collections of named and naturalised snowdrops in the UK.

Crafty Kids at Burton Gallery in Bideford – every Tuesday
Take your little ones to a crafty drop-in session for under-fives at Burton at Bideford Gallery every Tuesday in term time and for under 12s on Tuesdays in the school holidays.
There will be arts activities and games for children and their parents/carers for a small donation.

Sing the Musicals at Princess Theatre, Torquay – 7 February 2026

Direct from London’s West End, this national tour of the greatest musicals of all time is performed by a sensational live band and character singers with lyrics on a giant screen so you can sing along.

Comic Con at Newton Abbot Racecourse – 7 February 2026
Calling all comic, TV and film fans! Comic con is coming to Newtomn Abbot for the first time.
There will be a huge selection of TV and film memorabilia, board games, computer games, comics, Lego, Harry Potter and Japanese Manga items to view and buy throughout the day.
The event even has some dinosaurs and dragons and robots roaming around to entertain the crowds. Why not join in one of the multiple meet ups for characters or enter the cosplay competition?

Pennywell Farm reopens for the season

February half term marks the start of the season for one of Devon’s most popular attractions, Pennywell Farm.
Feed this year’s newest additions to the farm, go wild on the adventure playgrounds and enjoy special entertainment throughout the school holidays.
Pennywell Farm is located near Buckfastleigh just off the A38 in South Devon.

Craft workshops with Pom Stitch Tassel in Bovey Tracey – 14 to 21 February 2026

Join the craft crew at Pom Stitch Tassle for a fun-filled programme of creative workshops this half term.
Book in to make candles, pom poms garlands, cushions or a heart hand bag. There’s also a craft and cuppa session to round up the week.
Workshops are relaxed and welcoming, suitable for a range of ages and abilities, with craft sessions available for little ones aged two and up. All materials are provided, and each child will leave with something they’ve made themselves.

February Half Term at Quince Honey Farm in South Molton – 14 to 22 February 2026

There’s a hive of activity planned at Quince Honey Farm this half term from factory tours and tasting to beeswax and candle rolling and a seed bar where you can plant a bee-friendly seed to take back to your own garden.
Your ticket also includes the Play Hive indoor and outdoor play areas, Nectar Gardens, Meadow & Sculpture Trail and the exhibitions.

Family trail at Castle Drogo National Trust – 14 to 22 February 2026

Do you know what’s under your feet? Do you know the difference between your igneous or sedimentary rocks? Come to Drogo to find out about the history of Dartmoor’s foundations during its half term trail, Rock On.
The trail is free but normal admission charges apply for non-members.

Bubble & Pop in the Park at Crealy – 14 to 22 February 2026
Half term at Crealy Theme Park & Resort is going to be pumping with a line up of Taylor Swift tribute acts performing in the Big Top Arena.
Each show will include backing dancers with choreography, screen visuals and audience interaction for the ultimate school holiday live music event.
All of Crealy’s winter attractions will be open for a fun-packed theme park day.

Big Machine Week at Strawberry Fields, Lifton Farm – 14 to 22 February 2026
February half term event for all those little ones and big ones who love a tractor and farm machinery.

Write Your Own Fairytale Trail at Buckland Abbey in Yelverton – 14 February to 1 March 2026
Let you kid’s imaginations run wild at Buckland Abbey with its Write Your Own Fairytale Trail.
Pick up an activity booklet and a pencil from visitor information and follow the trail around the Abbey and gardens to create your own story.

Tree planting at Ilfracombe Torrs – 15 to 16 February 2026

Join the National Trust at Ilfracombe Torrs during half-term and be a part of planting more than 10,000 trees to benefit both people and nature as they work to create a broader range of habitats across the Ilfracombe Torrs.

Hay! at Pavilions Teignmouth – 16 February 2026
Farmer Geenie guides scarecrow step by step as he finds his feet, then his hands, his voice, his legs and his love of song and dance in a story about the fun of growing up where every moment there’s something new to make you say ‘Hay!’
This accessible show for little ones features puppets – birds, butterflies and bees – and some very wonderful eggs each with their own particular surprises.
Half term workshops at RAMM, Exeter – 17 to 19 February 2026
RAMM is an exciting place to explore over half term and is laying on extra activities for families over the school holidays. Take part in felt craft, imaginary play and musical activities.
Workshops are free and paid. Some require booking in advance.

Treasure Island at The Beehive – 17 to 21 February 2026
Join Honiton Community Theatre Company in Ben Crocker’s riotous, family-friendly pantomime ‘Treasure Island’ that transforms Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic tale into a laugh-out-loud, swashbuckling stage adventure.
This version of Treasure Island, is a vibrant and comedic reimagining of the beloved pirate story. It retains the core elements of the original – Jim Hawkins, Long John Silver, and the quest for buried treasure – but infuses them with all the traditional panto magic: slapstick humour, audience participation, catchy songs, and larger-than-life characters.

Talk on Barn Owls at Coleton Fishacre near Brixham – 18 February 2026
Join The Barn Owl Trust at Coleton Fishacre for a pop-up talk on all things Barn Owls. Get hands on with pellet analysis and and discover how the charity work hard to care and conserve the local Barn Owls.
This free talk takes place between 11am and 1pm and does not need to be booked in advance. Normal admission charges apply to non-National Trust members.

North Devon Gang Show at Landmark Theatre, Ilfracombe – 18 to 21 February 2026

See youngsters and adults from the Scouting and Girlguiding movements within North Devon put on a variety show featuring popular music, linked together with some comedy sketches and a few surprises.

Bash and burn at Marine Drive in Woolacombe – 19 February 2026
Join the National Trust ranger team at Marine Drive as they cut back gorse and overgrowth of vegetation to create more space for nature and allow rarer species including maritime grassland and wildflowers, to flourish.
This free volunteering event for families will run from 10am to 3pm but you are welcome to come and go as you please.

The Zoo That Comes To You at The Flavel in Dartmouth – 19 February 2026

Tree planting at Sharpham in South Devon – 19 February 2026
Join the rangers at Lower Sharpham Barton Farm on the Shapham Estate to help make a new habitat for wildlife and future generations to enjoy.
Families with children aged seven and over are invited to participate in this tree planting event, under the guidance of an expert ranger and Sharpham’s rewilding partners Ambios Ltd.
The event is free to attend. Drinks and biscuits are included.

The Little Prince at The Drum in Plymouth – 19 to 21 February 2026
Embark on a whimsical journey with the Little Prince as he wanders the universe in search of the true meaning of friendship.
Toby Thompson’s adaptation of the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s novel, as philosophical as its original, invites its audience to sense infinite possibility and recognise everything that is beautiful in the world. Performed by Toby Thompson, who brings this enchanting tale to life with his signature style.

LEGO workshop at Newton Abbot Museum – 20 February 2026

There’s extra half term planned at the free to visit Newton Abbot Museum. Let your imagination run wild during a family LEGO building session with Julian from Brickideas.
This special 2.5 hour session costs £5 per person for children aged 6 and up, and their adults.

Mayhem of Mad4Animals at River Dart Country Park – 21 to 22 February 2026
If your kids love animals you need to check out this high energy show inside a colourful circus top.
Each one hour performance features snakes, lizards, bugs and mammals. Afterwards there’s a chance to meet the stars of the show.
Mayhem of Mad4Animals runs for 90 minutes, five times over the weekend.

Adventures in Science at Pavilions Teignmouth – 21 February 2026
Join ‘The Magical Mr West’ on an incredible adventure into the world of science. Aided by his corvid companion
